Mindfulness is hugely beneficial for many mental health purposes. It can improve many psychological symptoms, including: attention problems, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma symptoms, and more! I am trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) and am able to offer mindfulness coaching based on these mindfulness theories, philosophies, and practices. I created a trauma-informed and school-based preventative mental health curriculum that incorporates mindfulness and art-based techniques, which is currently being used by a local non-profit, Young & Healthy, and implemented in Pasadena Unified School District. Please click here to learn more about the program and see it in action here: https://yhpasadena.org/mindfulness/

I use many of these techniques in my clinical practice with children, as well. If you are interested in starting your own mindfulness practice or sharing it with your child, please reach out.

Here are some free audio recordings you can try as well, starting with: a body scan meditation. The body scan is a great practice to start with for beginning practitioners. It focuses on bodily awareness, and is helpful for feeling grounded and relaxed.

This free audio recording of a loving-kindness meditation designed specifically for parents, educators, clinicians, and people of other disciplines who work with children. The loving-kindness meditation focuses on compassion for the self and others, and is helpful for cultivating compassion and preventing burnout or compassion fatigue.

This free audio uses guided imagery to help us practice staying calm even when there is chaos around us. It also reminds us of the impermanence of feelings and mental states, and how we can be our calm, strong, stable selves, as these thoughts and feelings come and go.

This free audio can guide you through working with difficult emotions, by softening, soothing, and allowing the difficult feeling.
